Pet hair removal may seem like a hairy task, but with the right vacuum cleaner attachment, it can be as simple as any other task.
A lot of manufactures nowadays are addressing the needs of pet-lovers by making cleaners specifically effective at pet hair removal.
Going even further, there are even vacuum cleaners meant to be used directly on your pet, to prevent loose hair from getting onto other surfaces to begin with!
For those of us with ‘lesser’ needs, attachments which go on existing vacuum cleaners can be quite convenient:
- They can be used only when needed.
- They can be fit on multiple brands of vacuum cleaners.
- They are a less expensive alternative to buying a vacuum designed specifically for cleaning hair.
The following tools are some of the best vacuum pet attachments currently available:
The Dyson Turbine
Dyson’s ‘tangle-free turbine tool‘ is an attachment which fits all Dyson vacuum cleaners except the DC24 model, and the cordless varieties. The tool has brushes on rotating heads, which are quite effective at getting hair out of carpets and upholstery. The heads are made of flexible material so they can bend when used on uneven surfaces. The brushes can draw hair from the front and side while vacuuming. This turbine tool is famously the only such tool which does not result in hair getting tangled up, which can be a great benefit during disposal. The hair drawn out by the rotating brush heads is sucked in by the vacuum and into a bin, from where it can be disposed later.
The BISSELL Petpack
This is a set of specially designed tools for pet-related cleaning problems. It features an innovative Pet Contour Tool which is a flexible tool effective at pulling out hair stuck in hard-to-clean areas such as upholstery and stairs. The Wide Pet TurboBrush is a great tool for cleaning large surfaces fast, like the couch, the bed and your pet’s favorite pillow or blanket! This product also comes with cool universal adapters that fit most brands.
The Hoover Pet Turbo Tool
This Rubberized Pet Turbo Tool tool features unique rubber blades which can pull away stubborn pet hair while ensuring no damage to surfaces such as mattresses, comforters, clothes, drapes, car interiors and furniture upholstery.
The Eureka Power Paw
This Power Paw vacuum attachment uses two rubber strips with rows of plastic teeth to loosen the hair and hold it while vacuuming. An additional brush roll also works in tandem to remove stuck hair faster. This attachment fits the end of all vacuum cleaner hoses (except the Miele brand – see below), and is very easy to use. It also happens to be the cheapest of the lot, at under $20.
The Miele Turbobrush
The STB 101 Mini TurboBrush and its flexible smaller variant from Miele, attach to all Miele brands of vacuum cleaners. They feature tough plastic bristles and rollers, which are effective on all kinds of upholstery, stairs, automobiles and carpets.
